Weslo Cadence R 5.2 Treadmill

Treadmill Review

Too Lazy to hit the gym? Get a Weslo Cadence R 5.2 Treadmill to stay fit at home. It’s a quality solution within your budget certainly. You can place it inside your house wherever you like as it doesn’t take up a lot of space. Yeah! It’s roomy. The folding design allows you to use it and store it back into the store without much hassle. The deck of the treadmill folds vertically, so that’s good news for your workout space.

The side guides of the machine are made of durable plastic material, which has also been tested for a much higher load capacity. It uses high precision ball rollers with industrial ball bearings, rollers that guarantee excellent adhesion to the belt. The bridge contains a comfort cell cushioning (suspension) that absorbs some of the impacts of cadence when walking or running. As a result, training on this treadmill is up to 20% softer for the joints than walking or running on concrete or asphalt.

The machine frame is made of steel; all steel parts are coated with corrosion-resistant paint. Obviously, because the treadmill is not very wide, the assembled treadmill also has a relatively smaller exercise area compared to other models such as the Sole F80 or ProForm 2000. It is 65 inches (165 cm) long and 29 inches (73.6 cm) wide.  Also, if you are interested, the distance between the handles of the machine is approximately Sixty-eight inches, which offers plenty of room for arm movement, while the distance between the treadmill and the handle is 89 inches.

The frame has a front base that rests on two rubber feet for a good adaptation to the floor. The rear of the platform rests on two folding legs. The rear ends of the front metal base are equipped with wheels that facilitate the transport of the assembled machine.

Its powerful motor provides smooth and consistent operation every time, which makes it a perfect fit for light to intense workouts. Not to forget, its tread belt gives more than the average belt. How? It’s more durable and provides smoother and quieter performance. The console unit that comes with the treadmill focuses on delivering the fitness features you absolutely need. This treadmill is specifically designed to maintain its strength, which makes it your smart option for long-term use. You can easily get for just three hundred to five hundred dollars. Wondering about getting one? Let’s delve deeper into its specifications to make it easier for you to make a choice.

Why is Weslo Cadence your perfect workout partner?

It comes with an innovative cell cushioning system, which helps in reducing stress on joints by maximizing stride impact absorption. It absorbs shock, and protects your knees, hips, and back, and provides you with maximum comfort, whether you choose to walk or run. Weslo Cadence R has a footprint of 5.2, so just by walking, you can burn calories more efficiently.

Experience a personalized cardio workout with the Weslo Cadence R 5.2 folding treadmill with adjustable incline. The manual two-position adjustable incline reduces joint strain. It has six personal trainer workouts. It provides three weight loss and three intensity training workouts. They range from 20-40 minutes in length. The ramp can be manually set to an inclination of 15%. This automatically increases calorie consumption compared to walking at the same speed.

This Weslo treadmill is an ideal tool for losing weight or increasing endurance. You can use it to train in all seasons, regardless of outside weather conditions. You can adjust its speed between 0-10 mph with the 2.5 CHP Mach Z motor depending upon your ease. This way, you can also experiment with different speeds to enhance your endurance. You will find a magnetic safety key included in the design as a safety feature. The best part? It comes with a thumb sensor to measure your heart rate while working out. It automatically stops the treadmill when removed.

The built-in console helps you to monitor your workout progress on LCD. First, its display shows speed, time (Mile per hour), distance (in miles as mentioned), pulse, and the total number of calories burned. You will also find a “track” function, which represents the distance in the dashboard console from the Weslo R 5.2 at a distance of 400m (1/4 mile). The pulse is read using a heart-shaped sensor on the console. To read your pulse, simply hold your thumb on the sensor. The machine handles have no pulse sensors, and the console cannot read heart rate using the chest strap transmitter.

The Weslo R 5.2 console also offers six preset workouts, 3 for weight loss, and 3 for intense training. Using one of the customized workout programs, the machine automatically adjusts the speed according to the stroke required.

You will also find the “Start and Pause” buttons on the dashboard; as mentioned above, the speed can be adjusted in 0.1 increments using the – / + keys on the console. However, there are also keys for quick speed adjustment from 1 to 10 MPH. Each program category has its own key.

The sides of the dashboard are optionally equipped with two bottle holders, while the area above the LCD display has a “lip” that can serve as a support for a book or magazine.

Technological innovation:

  • Blue tint LCD display – easy to read
  • Six profile programs – Allowing you to monitor your progress and workout with a plan in action
  • Weight Loss – Good for getting back in shape
  • Intensity Training – Helps you building strength

Is Weslo Cadence R 5.2 good enough for your cardio?

Weslo Cadence treadmills are only designed for walking for many reasons, not for running. From a runner’s point of view, the three main limitations of the R 5.2 are short track, low power, and low top speed: the spec is a 50 ″ x 16 ″ track, an economic engine with a power of 2.25 HP, and a top speed of 10 mph. Another drawback is the bridge, which is sparsely padded compared to bridges on good runner treadmills. To finish, the machine doesn’t weigh more than 120 pounds and is unstable at higher speeds.

Another drawback of the Weslo R 5.2 treadmill is that it only has two incline settings and has to be adjusted manually. For some, through searching, you will likely find a treadmill with power options. The manual incline adjustment really limits you during exercise. Sure, you can adjust the speed during the exercise, but if you really want to add intensity, you’ll need to jump off the treadmill and adjust the incline. This is a major drawback.

Weslo Cadence treadmills have particularly short warranties. The warranty on the R 5.2 treadmill varies by retailer, but the typical parts and labor warranty for this unit is only 90 days. By comparison, most treadmills starting at $500 and up have parts and labor warranties for at least one year.

Weslo Cadence R 5.2: Wow factors vs. Nah factors

Wow Factors:

  • Not expansive at all
  • Easy to assemble
  • Light in weight
  • Customized workouts for beginners
  • Trackable workout data
  • Recover from hard and fast runs
  • Beneficial for people with joint issues and knee problems
  • Prevent injury

 Nah factors:

  • Becomes noisy while working out as the design is thin
  • The manual incline is less convenient to use
  • The size of the standing area is 16” x 50”, which is quite small for a person of average size and weight
  • No drink holders, smartphone ports, speakers, or cooling fans

Decision: Should you invest in a Weslo Cadence R 5.2?

Buying a Weslo Cadence R 5.2 treadmill for the home can be a smart choice; you just have to understand what it’s built for. In our opinion, it is primarily intended for pedestrians or someone who wants to add some movement to their daily routine. It is definitely not for an experienced runner. If you’re here, you can also check out the Weslo Cadence G 5.9 treadmill. The 5.9 G is nearly $ 100 cheaper and nearly identical in every way, but unfortunately, the unusually low price is explained by the very low quality.

This treadmill isn’t very kind to the body or in terms of ergonomics and lacks standout features like programming involvement or console comfort that would earn it a two-star rating. Although Weslo Cadence R 5.2 has very low upfront costs, it becomes expensive later on in terms of maintenance and other requirements.

However, weighing out the pros and cons, our verdict that it’s worth taking a look at.
