Product Review

Proform Power 1080 Folding Treadmill

The Proform Power 1080 treadmill is one of Proform’s new Power series models – and an upgrade to the popular Power 995 treadmill.

The Power series is a line of treadmills by Proform that are built with tougher construction and a more rugged feel than their starter models.

The Power 1080 treadmill is similar to the Power 995 treadmill but with a stronger 3.25 HP motor, 7″ Full Color Touch Screen, longer warranty, stronger deck and iFit LIVE Built-In (so you don’t have to buy the separate iFit LIVE Module).

Features:

  • Price: $1299 (+ Free Shipping)
  • Motor: 3.25 HP Motor
  • Speed: 0 -12 MPH
  • Incline:  0-15%
  • Treadbelt: 20 x 60″

Verdict: Recommended

The Proform Power 1080 treadmill is the top model in the Power series of treadmills with lots of added luxuries like an extra strong 3.25 HP motor, iFit LIVE built-in, iPod dock, extra long 60″ belt, set-a-goal workout center and full-color touch screen console.

It also has a stronger deck with some added stability (vs the Power 995 treadmill) which makes it a great choice for runners. And the warranty is one of the best Proform currently offers.

Product Pros And Cons

Proform Power 1080 Treadmill

1) Strong 3.25 HP Motor With Lifetime Warranty

The motor is the heart of your treadmill so you want a strong, well-built motor. A 3.25 HP motor is quite good at this price point. It can easily power the extra long 60″ belt.

And it’s covered by a lifetime warranty which also gives you added protection on your investment.

2)  iFit Live Built-In

If you have wireless Internet in your home you can connect this treadmill to the Internet. You can walk or run famous trails all over the world using Googlemaps and Google Terrain to simulate a virtual reality type of workout.

You can download new workouts to your treadmill and even workout with Jillian Michaels from ‘The Biggest Loser’ – where she coaches you through your workout.

You can also track your activity and nutrition as you progress towards your goals over time.  And since it’s built-in – this means you don’t have to buy the extra iFit LIVE module. It’s already set-up for use.

3) 7″ Full Color Touch Screen

The large 7″ console display window makes it easy to read your stats like speed, distance, time, calories burned, pulse and incline.  You can choose your workout options with the swipe of a finger. Plus the full-color display is really neat when you’re using the iFit LIVE to run different trails as it shows you the terrain in full color.

4) 30 Built In Workouts

In addition to the iFit LIVE workouts, the Power 1080 treadmill comes with 30 more built-in workouts designed by a certified personal trainer. There are 20 calorie-burning workouts and 10 all-terrain workouts to choose from.

5) iPod Dock with Built-In Speakers

Plug in your iPod or MP3 player and listen to your favorite workout tunes through the built-in console speakers. This can make your workouts a lot more enjoyable.

6) Set-A-Goal Customizable Workouts

If you don’t want to use a pre-programmed workout, you can custom-design your own by choosing a speed, time or distance goal. The treadmill will then create that workout for you based on your chosen goal.

7) Extra Long Warranty With 2 Years On Service

The warranty on the Power 1080 treadmill is one of the best you’ll find on any Proform unit (Lifetime Frame & Motor Warranty, 5 year parts, 2 years on labor). Of special note is the 2 years on labor. Most treadmills give you from 90 days to 1 year so this alone is an incredible value and can save you money over the long run.
