Want to know what happens when you ignore proper hand care?
You can tear – and that mess hurts!
Now, compared to some that I have seen – mine are NOTHING. But that doesn’t change the fact that it hurts like heck and is annoying when it interferes with my workouts. I read this on another blog (FITBOMB) and thought it was hilarious and dead on (and has some great tips for hand care):
“Torn skin is painful and annoying, and may put you out of commission for a spell. And THAT is unequivocally un-hardcore.”
I really thought my torn up hands would keep me from working out for a day or so (yes I am a wuss) but with some band aids, some tape and a little chalk – I was good to go and thankful for the friendly push and encouragement from my coach and friend. There is nothing better then WODing with your coach to humble and push you – and I enjoyed every second of it (which was well over 6 minutes worth of “seconds” longer than her…LOL).
It really is a treat to work out with someone that has achieved what you are working towards and endevoring to be like. You know you can’t quit or don’t want to slow down and so you dig deep to find what you need to finish strong. Not saying I sandbag other workouts, but boy it’s telling when you see how much harder you can push when you are working out with an amazing athlete! I think sometimes people can take for granted the opportunity it truly is to work out with someone (or a group of people) that is better and stronger than you, but yet humble and encouraging at the same time. I’ve said it before, but it really is one of my favorite things about the Crossfit Community and my friends at Crossfit Aero.

I agree about pushing harder.. I am no pro at Crossfit, and I’m just about dead last in every workout, but it does force you to push harder than you think you’re capable of. Like at home, if I’m frustrated or sucking at a workout, I may just quit.. where here, there’s not quitting. You HAVE to do finish it, whatever it takes!
Exactly!!! And even if you finish last….you still finish and you were still working that whole time!
